Hidden in the lush forests of Tavush, Haghartsin Monastery is where nature and spirituality meet in perfect harmony. Built between the 10th and 13th centuries, the complex includes several churches and a beautifully designed refectory. Its forested setting gives it a fairy-tale charm—especially when morning mist drapes the trees. Nearby, a hollowed-out ancient oak once offered visitors a wishful tradition: if you could squeeze through its trunk while making a wish, legend said it would come true. Even though only part of the tree remains, the magic still lingers in the air.

Founded by the great medieval scholar and fabulist Mkhitar Gosh, Goshavank was more than a monastery—it was a center of learning and culture in the 12th–13th centuries. Nestled in the picturesque forests of Tavush, the complex features elegant churches, libraries, and a scriptorium. A standout here is the legendary khachkar (cross-stone) carved by master Poghos in 1291—often considered one of the most intricate in Armenia. Walking through Goshavank feels like stepping into the pages of a medieval manuscript.
